Peeking into bedrooms

Pierre Trudeau, internationally well-known former Prime Minister of Canada, is well known for the quote:
There is no place for the state in the bedrooms of the nation.
A follow-on quote is:
Obviously, the state's responsibility should be to legislate rules for a well-ordered society. It has no right or duty to creep into the bedrooms of the nation
However, in Malaysia, the attitudes seem to be different. First of all Anwar Ibrahim is being tried a second time for sodomy, in what is widely seen as a politically motivated prosecution.
The headline is clear Sex scandals obsess Malaysia: the country with a one-track mind, despite the clear images of Anwar with his wife and family.
